I. THE HARC AWARDS
The HARC Awards is a Creative Arts competition open to emerging American Creative Artists from all art disciplines including: Fine Arts (Painting, Sculpture); Visual Arts (Photography, Video/Film, Multi-Media); Music (Orchestral/Instrumental, Opera/Musical Theatre, Song & Words); Literature (Short Story, Play, Poetry); Dance (Choreography).
The HARC Foundation grants Cash Awards and, as possible, arranges presentations of Award Recipients and their winning works of art in a public exhibition, screening, concert performance, reading or production. HARC is limited in the number of art discipline awards granted each year. As a result, “calls for entries” are placed with appropriate media to announce the art disciplines selected for the coming calendar year. Complete details about each Award will be provided at that time.
Three or more judges are recruited to judge each Art Discipline category. One HARC Board of Directors judge, one HARC Awards Sponsoring Patron judge and at least one but not more than three professional celebrity judge(s) representing the category being judged.
The HARC Awards Program is open to sponsorship by individuals and corporations interested in helping The Foundation discover, recognize, nurture, promote and support emerging American Creative Artists. HARC is dedicated to helping emerging Creative Artists by providing solutions to their needs through The HARC Awards Program which will benefit their livelihood and encourage achievement of their artistic potential.
II. THE CAT AWARDS (Creative Arts Therapy)
The CAT Awards are granted to qualified Creative Artists who wish to become Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (Art Therapists, Music Therapists, Dance Therapists) and who will commit to working with abused, neglected and traumatized children upon licensure.
Currently, The HARC Foundation grants Cash Awards of $2,500 each year to CAT Award Recipients. Awards are based on available resources which may increase or limit the amount or number of awards made in a given year.
Applicants must provide the following: 1) a representation of their creative talent; 2) an essay that describes their reason for pursuing a Creative Arts Therapy career; 3) a statement of financial need; and, 4) a document proving acceptance into an accredited Graduate Program in Clinical Art Therapy, Music Therapy or Dance/Movement Therapy (See CAT Awards Entry Requirements).
Three or more judges are recruited to select CAT Award recipients. One HARC Board of Directors judge, one HARC Awards Sponsoring Patron judge and at least one but not more than three professional Creative Arts Therapy judge(s). University Graduate Program Department Chairs/Directors may also be contacted for additional information about an applicant.
The CAT Awards Program is open to sponsorship by individuals and corporations interested in using the Creative Arts as a therapeutic science in the rehabilitation of abused and neglected children. The objective is to use the art disciplines “in” therapy, not “as” therapy.
III. THE TRUMPET AWARDS
The Trumpet Awards are special recognition awards granted to Creative Artists who have made outstanding contributions to the Arts and to the Community. Awards are presented periodically by The HARC Foundation as determined appropriate by The Board of Directors. Applications are not accepted for consideration.
